Special trip to Angel Island from Sausalito ferry landing on the NPS "Clam"
FREE Volunteer Appreciation event!
The Park Service has once again offered us a special trip to Ayala Cove via their working boat called the Clam. It is the boat used to transport a vehicle when needed and staff who live and work on the Island.
The group that attended last year had a wonderful time and we are excited about going again with a few tweaks.
IMPORTANT: This is not an ADA accessible boat and anyone who attends must be able to take the stairs on/off the boat and walk to the beach for lunch and then along the path to Fort Reynolds (West Garrison), about 35-40 minutes mostly sloping downhill walk. We will arrange for a tram to bring us back to Ayala Cove.
Here is the schedule:
10:15am - meet at Sausalito Ferry landing
10:30am - depart on the Clam
11:00am - beach clean up - this will be a short task, last year we found only a few pieces of trash, as if the area had been vacuumed!
11:15 - 12:00 - lunch at the beach picnic tables (Lunch choices will be from a selection of sandwiches and salads from Venice Gourmet)
12:00pm - walk along the perimeter path to Fort Reynolds which dates back to the Civil War
1:15pm - take the tram back to Ayala Cove
1:30pm - depart from Ayala Cove and return to Sausalito
